Guided Imagery
Guided imagery is a process in which you are literally 'guided to imagine' a scene or images in your mind incorporating as many of your senses as possible. You do this sitting or lying in a comfortable position. It feels like you are taking a healing journey or vacation in your mind.

One of the most amazing results of guided imagery is its effect on the body, mind and spirit. Research at universities and hospitals worldwide have proven these positive effects. Since our brains cannot distinguish the difference between a real and imagined scene, we can mobilize our minds to create positive images rather than negative ones. Without realizing it, we create negative scenes in our minds all the time, such as seeing ourselves trip or stutter as we walk up to do a speech, which can create anxiety. Imagine using this ability of our minds to picture ourselves succeeding at the same speech. The impact of this imagery is phenomenal.
On a psychological level, guided imagery studies have shown a reduction in anxiety, depression and fear, and an increase in self-esteem. On a spiritual level, imagery has been shown to help create a deeper connection with a higher power or ones own inner wisdom. The physical effects of guided imagery on the body have been widely studied and proven to have powerful physiological effects on the body. Imagery can decrease fatigue, stress, and pain. It strengthens the immune system and helps people to tolerate medical treatments such as chemotherapy and surgery.
Imagery also takes effect quickly. You can take a journey in your mind and feel refreshed, energized, or inspired in a matter of minutes.
